Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway

The Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway is a volunteer-run narrow gauge line in the countryside near Sittingbourne, where a 15-minute ride takes you into the woods and out across the fields. On event days steam and diesel locos run and the engine shed and museum of restored engines open up, and the tea room serves breakfasts, lunches and cakes. It suits train-loving families and makes a good half day out.

The Meads Community Woodland and The Henge

The Meads Community Woodland is a planted native woodland and meadow on the edge of Sittingbourne, with circular walks and plenty of birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Its standout feature is a replica of a Neolithic wood henge, built by volunteers in 2017 with individually carved posts set out like the original found nearby. It is a pleasant spot for a short walk with children or the dog.
