The Meads Community Woodland and The Henge
The Meads Community Woodland is a planted native woodland and meadow on the edge of Sittingbourne, with circular walks and plenty of birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Its standout feature is a replica of a Neolithic wood henge, built by volunteers in 2017 with individually carved posts set out like the original found nearby. It is a pleasant spot for a short walk with children or the dog.

The Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway runs the original steam engines and carriages on part of a narrow gauge line built in 1905 to serve the local paper mills. Trains cross the Milton Regis viaduct to Kemsley Down, where there is time to look around before the return trip. It is a short, characterful outing for young train fans, with themed event weekends through the season.

Milton Creek Country Park is Sittingbourne's largest green space, 128 acres of meadow, scrub and wetland on a former landfill site beside a tidal creek. Wander the path network, let children use the natural play area and look out for nightingales and rare bees. It suits a free family stroll of an hour or two.
