Kostina Art Studio is a small workshop space on cobbled Frog Lane in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, led by artist Valeriia Kostina. Its best-known sessions use alcohol inks to make flowing abstract pictures, often with a glass of prosecco, and it also runs tile painting, eco-printing and pattern cutting.

Highlights

  • Alcohol ink sip and paint evenings, with prosecco or kombucha
  • Tile painting and eco-print silk scarf workshops
  • A half-day alcohol ink florals class for those with some experience
  • Christmas bauble decorating with alcohol inks
  • You take your finished artwork home

Good to know

  • Alcohol ink sessions are marked 16+, though another note on the page says they are not recommended under 18; they are not advised in pregnancy or for anyone sensitive to rubbing alcohol
  • Wear clothes you do not mind getting splashed
  • Bring a bag or folder slightly bigger than A3 to carry your work home
  • Contact: art@kostina.co.uk or 07902 105447

King Charles the Martyr

Begun in 1676 as a chapel for visitors taking the waters, King Charles the Martyr is the oldest building in Tunbridge Wells. Step inside and look up: its plaster ceilings by John Wetherell and Henry Doogood, who both worked for Christopher Wren, are among the finest of their period.

The Grove

The Grove is a small, leafy park just up Frog Lane from the High Street, close to the Pantiles. It was a wood placed in trust in 1703 for local people to enjoy, and today it has a well-equipped children's play area, benches and plenty of squirrels.
