Hawkhurst Fish Farm is a coarse and carp fishery on the Hastings Road outside Hawkhurst, with several lakes ranging from small, well-stocked junior ponds to a big-fish water holding carp and catfish. Beginners can turn up at the Junior Lakes without booking and hire a rod and bait on the spot, and the lakeside cafe makes it an easy stop for families.

Highlights

  • Three Junior Lakes for novices with no booking needed and whips set up ready to use
  • Main Lake is a 4-acre specimen water with large carp and catfish
  • Bailiff on hand at the Junior Lakes to help first-timers get started
  • Waterside Cafe overlooking the Main Lake, plus a tackle shop and a pottery painting studio on site

Good to know

  • No dogs or other pets anywhere on site because of the wildfowl
  • The grounds are for anglers only, so you cannot walk around the lakes as a visitor
  • A rod licence is needed on the main lakes; the Junior Lakes are covered by the fishery's own licence, but staff need your details
  • Anglers under 16 must be with an adult aged 21 or over, and there is a 10% discount with a Forces Discount Card
